The town of Ray was subhumed by the Ray Mine of ASARCO. It was located at what is now the N end of the Ray Mine. Prior to its demise, the then owner of the mine, Kennicott Copper, built the nearby town of Kearny to move everyone who was displaced into a nice, sterile, company designed town. Since Ray no longer exists, its continued use is for historical purposes only.
