The locality was discovered by Henri Besaire in 1927. Located on the southern slope of Mt. Ambindavato, 2 km east of Mavonono-Sakoa Rivers. A rhodonite lense 10 m x 1,5-2m large embedded in a serpentinite associated with garnet-bearing amphibolite (Lacroix 1939).
