Nepheline basalt (nepheline basanite) with a lens-like inclusion of hornfels facies-metamorphosed Keuper clay. A major part of the clay was transformed into montmorillonite by hydrothermal processes during cooling of the initial magma. The rocks were exposed for some time in a quarry on Großer Dolmar mountain, near Meiningen, 2.5 km N of Kühndorf.
