Named in honor of Jean D'Ans (16 August 1882, Fiume - 14 January 1969, Berlin, Germany), mineralogist at the Kali-forschungsanstalt (Technical University), Berlin, Germany who published many papers on equilibrium in salt systems.
The Mg analogue of d'ansite-(Fe) and d'ansite-(Mn).
First found in a paleogene salt deposit in central China, but first described from Austria.
