The Briketno-Zheltukhinskoe deposit and several uranium occurrences are localized in the southern part of the Moscow lignite basin, being restricted to the paleodeltaic sediments. The base of the section recovered by boreholes consists of the Upper Devonian (Famennian) sediments dominated by dark-gray limestones with the subordinate dolomites and thin clay and marl intercalations. The Famennian rocks contain thin veinlets and dissemination of sulfides.
