Mining can be divided into two periods: from 1928 to 1969 open-pit mining, and from 1969 to 1981 in galleries as deep as 54 m under the sea.
The orebody consists of magnetite, included in skarn. Aplitic veins are frequent in the area and some of them have a late-hydrothermal phase with an alpine-type paragenesis.
