Aurizona Gold Mine


Gold mine, operated by Equinox Gold (2023).
Artisanal gold production dating back to the arrival of Jesuit missionaries in the 17th century.
Mostly underlain by the Paleoproterozoic São Luís Craton (“SLC”) and Gurupi Belt which are locally covered by Neoproterozoic-Cambrian sedimentary rocks and cut by Early Cambrian dikes. Consists of felsic, intermediate, and mafic volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks, as well as metasedimentary rocks.
