Lennonville was a thriving goldrush town in its own right, about six kilometres north of Mount Magnet, and a short distance west of the Great Northern Highway. Gold was discovered in the area November 1894, and the town's heyday was between 1897 to 1906. By World War One it had been abandoned. Little remains. The goldfield is north of Mount Magnet and west of the Great Northern Highway. It is about 6 kilometres long by 1 kilometre wide, and the mines tend to form a linear trend north-south. The Boogardie Goldfield, west of Mount Magnet adjoins the Lennonville Goldfield to the south. The tourist bureau has a brochure detailing sites in the area, and a map which names the various open pits, which is more useful than the following description.

From the south, and just north-west of the townsite is the administration offices for the present gold mining company. Next to this is the historic Black Cat Mine. The tourist lookout is immediately to its north-west on a hill. Most of the locations are west of the tourist road. Two kilometres north of here is a collection of pits close together including Galtee More, Dumboyne and Spearmont. A few hundred metres further north is Warringee and then Brooklyn.

About 4 kilometres north of the lookout, and directly west of the old lennonville townsite, is a collection of pits including Yuletide and Yuletide North closest to the tourist road, Eastern Jaspilite adjoins to the east, tiny Mermaid adjoins north, then further north Fuchsite.

North of where the road turns towards the highway, is Souvenir (the western pit), and adjoining to the east Golden Treasure. North of here is Baxter, then Welcome, being the most northerly mine on the field.

Some of these names are historic from the 1890's, some modern. All are modern open pits from recent decades replacing historic workings.
