Andersen (1931) designation of the quarry: "Ås II".
A relatively large and ca. 50 m deep underground mine located SSW of Ås 1 feldspar Quarry. Reported production before 1927: 7000-8000 tons of feldspar. In 1927 some quartz was mined to determine if it was profitable.
In later years Theodor Gautestad got a lease on the mine, and from 1955 til 1964 considerable quantities of feldspar and quartz were mined. In the period 1961-1964 5911 tons of feldspar and 6960 tons of quartz were mined.
In 1964 a large part of the roof collapsed, and the mine was closed for good.

This mine is known for excellent finds of xenotime-(Y) and uraninite crystals. Unfortunately most of the dumps ended as road-fill, thereby destroying maybe hundreds or thousands of good specimens.
