Frost Feldspar Quarry; Fanny Frost Quarry
The quarry was about 150 meters long, 30 meters wide, and 10 meters deep and was operated in the early part of the twentieth century for feldspar. The opening is on the western flank of the Woodstock gneiss dome, where the pegmatite has intruded the Cockeysville Marble.
The quarry is unusual for its high amount of Mg, Ti, and Fe. Diopside can be found as large crystals up to a meter long, along with titanite and beryl (aquamarine).
