Name:
For the presence of sulfhydryl (SH) group and relation to bystrite.
Doubly unique in being the first known mineral with sulhydryl (SH) and the only one with pentasulphide anion at once. The second mineral with species-defining sulfhydryl (hydrosulfide) anion is sapozhnikovite.
First member of the cancrinite group with sulfhydryl and second with dominant polysulphide group after bystrite. Also first mineral for which both these unique anions were structurally detected. For another polysulphide-containing mineral see bazhenovite.
The structure is an ABAC stacking of six-membered rings comprising 23 SiO4 and AlO4 tetrahedra; extra-framework ions are located within structural cages. There are two type of cages - the cancrinite one and the losod one - stacked into chains. The cancrinite cage hosts Ca2+ and SH- ions;(S5)2- anion is associated with Na and K ions in the losod cage.
