Mibladen (Bou-Selloum; MibladΓ©n; Mibladan; Mibladene; Miblanden)
A district world-famous for its excellent vanadinite crystals.
Located about 25 km NE of the town of Midelt.
A stratiform deposit (baryte and galena) hosted in Liassic limestones and dolomites. It was operated by French companies that were installed on the nearby vein-deposit of Aouli. Today, Moroccan miners continue to explore old workings (for baryte and cerussite) or drill small shafts from the surface (for vanadinite).
Between 1926-1949 more than 600 different shafts were worked, most are now deeper than 10m.
The different shafts, mines and open pits were divided in separate workings (Quartiers or chantiers in French) and given name such as Les A, Les AB, Les S, Les O, Les R, Les T, Les Dalles, Anne-Marie, 2em Horizon, Bou el Maden, Marguerite and the ACF Mine.
