Kłodawa

Last classically mined salt deposit in Poland. In the Klodawa diapir (salt dome) almost the whole Zechstein salt-bearing profile (PZ1-PZ4: Strassfurt, Leine, Aller) is known. Halite and K-Mg salts are mined.

There is a unique find of relatively rare motukoreaite, in "at least hundreds of thousands Mt" amount! It is present in the roof part of the Younger Potash unit, Leine cyclothem. Thought to be formed by alteration of wind-deposited clays that sedimented together with evaporite sequence and interacted with Mg- and sulfate-bearing brines of diagenetic/metamorphic origin (Wachowiak & Pieczka, 2016).
