A circular, 10-mile-diameter geologic dome formed by an unexposed 35 Ma lacolithic magma intrusion situated in the eastern park of Big Bend Ranch State Park. The domes outer flanks are mostly concentrically tilted layers of Cretaceous limestone, pre-doming rhyolitic sills, and a basal Shutup conglomerate that unconformably overlies Paleozoic sedimentary rocks deformed by the Ouachita orogeny exposed in the dome's core. A limited collapse caldera is also present in the core of the dome, but it has little topographic expression. The most topographically prominent layers in the Paleozoic core are the Devonian-Silurian Caballos Novaculite (a hard, dense, light-colored sedimentary silica rock) and the Ordovician Maravilles dark gray chert. Many radial faults cut the dome's sedimentary rocks, as do small dikes and post-doming rhyolitic plugs, such as Solitario Peak.
The feature is divided north-south by the Presidio (west)/Brewster (east) County line.
