Hydrothermal quartz-carbonate veins with Co, Ni and Cu sulphides/arsenides/sulfoarsenides hosted in complex of metamorphic rocks, mostly gneisses and amphibolites. The most significant mining activity in Dobšiná area is connected with the exploitation and mining of cobalt and nickel ores from this vein system. Mining of rich cobalt and nickel ores started there in 1780 and ceased in 1897. New exploration for cobalt ores was conducted by CE Metals Co. in 2017 and ceased in 2019.

The Zemberg Vein system consists of three discrete vein sets - Severna, Juzna and Hlavná.
