York River tactite zone
A dolomitic skarn zone.
This location now lies within the boundaries of Egan Chutes Provincial park as such mineral collection is now unfortunately forbidden. Park wardens can impose fines and seize property.
Osbourne states:
A dike of nepheline syenite to the east of the York river at Egan chute is about 50 feet wide and is exposed for 200 feet. It consists of nepheline and oligoclase with small amounts of sodalite, cancrinite, apatite, and black mineral. Radioactive zircon crystals cause a radial shattering of the nepheline and albite in a few places.
