An iron mine opened in 1922 by the Verona Mining Co. On opening, it annexed the neighboring Baltic and Fogarty mines, then was consolidated into the Buck Group in 1944, in which it produced ore through the closure of the Buck Group in 1962. It was the group's biggest producer in the later years of operation. Starting on Fogarty shafts, thirteen levels were developed to 1420 feet, with 2.8 million tons shipped by the time of the 1944 merger.
The property description is as follows:
Buck property addition: S1/2-SW Sec. 6 T42N-R34W
Baltic Mine: W1/2-W1/2 Sec. 7 T42N-R34W
Fogarty Mine: SE-SE Sec. 1 T42N-R35W
