A former surface and underground Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-Au (Mo-V) group of mines located in the southern Β½ sec. 24, T.18S., R.23E. Discovered 1942. First produced 1942. Operated by Joe M. Escapule (1942). Owned by Joe M. Escapule (1955) and operated by Charles Lamm (1955).

Mineralization is oxidized lead, zinc and minor copper ores in bedded replacement deposits in folded and faulted Cambrian Abrigo Limestone.

Workings include an adit. Approximately 50 tons of ore were produced intermittently from 1938 to 1955.

A former small underground Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Au-Mo-V mine group located on 17 unpatented claims. in West-central sec. 25 (& 24 ?), T18S, R23E, and sec. 19, T18S, R24E, east of the San Juan Mine and Β½ mile W of Black Diamond Peak. Produced 1938-1955. Operated by Mr. J. Escapule (1942). The Escapule consists of the Moonlight, Northside, and Garnet groups of claims.

Mineralization is base metal sulfides in small orebodies and vein-like deposits along faults in folded and faulted Paleozoic limestone in the hanging wall side of the Dragoon Fault. There are three mineralized zones. The host rock is the Abrigo Limestone. An associated rock unit is quartz monzonite.

Local structures include NW-trending thrust sheets and steep-dipping to overturned Cretaceous beds.

Two of the three mineralized zones have been developed by a few hundred feet of mine workings. The Escapule is situated on the Moonlight 2 and 3 claims, a couple of hundred feet west of the Dragoon fault. The Escapule Mine is developed by an adit about 275 feet long and by four shallow winzes - 10, 17, 25, and 70 feet deep (21.34 meters deepest point). Workings were driven along or near the contact between the quartzite on the footwall zone and the limestone on the hanging wall.

There was some production.
