Habit: Rough crystals, cleavage masses. Laminae flexible but inelastic
Colour: Silvery white to bright yellowish green, vitreous with pearly luster
Fluorescence: none
Description: Described first as "Chloritic Vermiculite" by Clarke and Schneider in 1891. Likely the same material as described by professor Frederick Burritt Peck in 1905 as an "alteration of phlogopite to serpentine", noting specimens from both Chestnut Hill and from the continuation of the serpentine belt at Warne's quarry (Royal Green Quarry), across the Delaware river in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Analysis by Merril and by Eyerman in 1911.
