Gabbro with inclusions of amphibolites and calcic silicate rocks.
Located on Emmertsberg hill, 1 km south of Waschenbach and about 3.5 km south of Nieder-Ramstadt.

The separation of the site into the Emmertsberg quarry and the Thomas quarry is probably misleading. The Thomas family ran a quarry on the eastern outskirts of Waschenbach (in the "Geberstadt") until 1955. This was shut down due to problems and rebuilt approx. 1 km south on Emmertsberg. It would therefore have to be clarified whether the Thomas Quarry listed is the old quarry on the outskirts of the town or (more likely) the new one to the south and only a double naming for the same quarry
