Fe, S, Mn mineralization associated to radiolarites.

The mineralization has hydrothermal origin and shows two different occurrences: a first occurrence, made up of quartz, hematite, goethite and pyrite, is concentrated in lens-shaped masses within radiolarites and comes from their impregnation by SiO2, Fe and S-rich fluxes; a second subordinated occurrence, made up of Mn only, is concentrated in thin carbonate levels interlayered with radiolarites and was formed after Mn precipitation from brines or seawater solutions. The peculiar chemical composition of the orebody allowed the development of typical parageneses during the Alpine uplift. The first low-temperature blueschist metamorphic phase developed an assemblage of amphibole, greenish stilpnomelane, sursassite, deerite(?), siderite, pyrite and hematite; the second metamorphic phase, in low-temperature greenschist facies, developed associations of albite, clinochlore, Fe-richer stilpnomelane, parsettensite, riebeckite, rodochrosite, and calcite.
