Mississippi valley type (MVT) deposit, mined from an open pit.
The Dengying Fm. is the dominant ore-bearing unit, and composes of a thick sequence of dolomite (βΌ900 m) with variable compositions, including algae dolomite (mainly stromatolites and botryoidal dolomite, Zbd2), argillaceous dolomite (Zbd3 and Zbd4), siliceous dolomite (Zbd5 and Zbd6), phosphatic dolomite (Zbd7), and banded dolomite (Zbd8) from bottom to top. The Qiongzhusi Fm., unconformably overlying the Dengying Fm., is the subordinate host rock and is mainly composed of sandstone and shale. No igneous rocks have been recognized in the mining area, except for the Emeishan basalt in the west margin.
