The Lagoa Real mineral province (uranium province), discovered in 1977, covers an area of 1200 kmΒ². The area is located in the south-central state of Bahia, being limited by geographic coordinates 42007'30 "- 42022'30" and 13045'00 "- 14007'30". This region is the most important uranium province known in Brazil and it is located in the municipalities of CaetitΓ©, Lagoa Real and Livramento de Nossa Senhora.
