A Feldspar-REE-U-Th-Co-Au-Ag-Cu-Pb-Ti-As-Gd-Zr-W pegmatite occurrence/mine located 1 mile N of Beverly, 5 miles N25W of Kingsland and 13 miles E of Llano, SW of Buchanan Dam, on private land. Directions: 2.3 miles W of Texas highway 261 on Texas highway 16, then 0.8 mile S. Discovered in 1936 by Tillie Badu Moss. The USGS MRDS database accuracy for this locality is not presented.
A pegmatite REE deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 38; USGS model code: 13e; Deposit model name: Feldspar contained in pegmatites), hosted in pegmatite. The ore body is 18.29 meters thick, 106.68 meters wide and 213.36 meters long and has a depth-to-top of 0 meters. Associated rocks include Neoproterozoic marble and Packsaddle Schist. Local rocks include the Precambrian (Proterozoic) Town Mountain Granite.
Workings include surface openings comprised of a quarrying operation with a 15 foot high quarry wall, overall length of 60.96 meters and an overall width of 21.34 meters. 3 holes were drilled and 6 test p[its dug by the U.S.; Bureau of Mines in 1946.
Analytical data results: 63-69% SiO2, 19-20% Al2O3, 7-12% K2O, <0.15% Fe2O3, 0.02-0.05% MgO, 0.06-0.6 CaO, 3-4% Na2O, 0.13% P2O5.
Reserve/resources data: This deposit is known to extend 28 to 45 feet below the bottom of the 15 foot quarry wall (1946).
