Tafí del Valle Department is a department in Tucumán Province, Argentina. It has an area of 2,741 km². The seat of the department is in Tafí del Valle.
Sierra de Quilmes, Mica Deposits:
Mines of mica deposits where the larger lamina are mined and the rest of the material is rejected as “scrap” without commercial use.
Studies were conducted about the characterization of the mica scrap in order to define its possibility for industrial uses.
There are small mining producers traditionally dedicated to the exploitation and classification of Muscovite mica, where sheets of larger size and quality are used for insulation in general and the rest of it is waste or Scrap, locally called "acopia" is discarded on dumps without commercial use and constitute more than 70% of the production process. This last situation is the realization of some studies, which consist of the characterization and industrial use of this mineral.
