Formerly Kupferberg, Silesia, Germany. "Miedź" is the Polish word for copper.

NOTE: Not to be confused with the Miedzianka locality near Kielce (in Swietokrzyskie Mts.).

The ore deposit (mainly Cu, As, and Pb; + subordinate Zn, Ag, Au, and U) is hosted by Precambrian or Lower Paleozoic multiply deformed schists. The mineralization is related to solutions from the underlying Karkonosze granitic intrusion. The contact effect (hornfels and dikes) of this granite is widespread in the region.

Metallic bismuth and Bi ochres (on carbonate ores) are reported from a heap of Karstenschacht adit and another heap of a ventilation shaft "E to Miedzianka, at a forest edge".
