(Imsbach, Kirchheimbolanden, Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutschland)
A small copper-porphyry deposit of Permian age. Some veins are also present.
Historical copper and iron mining district with its heyday around 1750. During the following decades, the mines quickly lost any importance, but were not closed until 1921. The ores, concentrated in clefts and fault zones of a permian quartz-porphyry (rhyolite), were recovered mainly through open cuts. At some places within the area, local concentrations of cobalt, nickel and silver ores were mined as well.
