Elacite Mine


A porphyry copper deposit.

The open pit extends into the northern portion of Chelopech Municipality.

Mineral assemblages have homogenization temperatures between 576-​330Β° and 250-​140Β° based on fluid inclusions in quartz. At Elatsite, the porphyry hydrothermal paragenesis consists of: early magnetite–quartz; magnetite–bornite–chalcopyrite; pyrite–chalcopyrite; quartz–molybdenite; and late quartz–pyrite, quartz–galena–sphalerite, and quartz–carbonate–zeolite veins.

Potassic alteration is spatially associated with the mineralization of the quartz–magnetite and magnetite–bornite–chalcopyrite stages, which host the majority of the Pd and Pt in the deposit.

Located about 8 km NW of the Chelopech Mine.
