Name:
For Johann Jacob Bindheim (1750-1825), German chemist who made the first chemical analysis of the mineral.
First Recorded Locality:
"Bindheimite" is a common but inadequately described mineral, much of which corresponds to the more recently described Oxyplumboroméite, although further studies of individual occurrences would be required to determine this with certainty. See also monimolite.
A secondary mineral occurring in the oxidized zones of antimony-bearing lead deposits, a frequent oxidation product of Pb-Sb-sulphosalts.
May be confused with antimony ochre.
Compare the chemically similar 'rosiaite'.
Compare also UM1978-09-O:CuHPbSbSi.
