A range along the border between Carinthia and Slovenia.
Mountain range.
Geologically, a triassic granitic massif, constituted of a bimodal magmatic association of predominantly acidic (syenogranite) and mafic rocks (gabbro and monzogabbro), with intermediate rocks (monzonite and monzodiorite), locally cut by veins of porphyry syenite. The intermediate rocks and porphyry syenites are believed to have been formed by interaction between acidic and mafic magmas.
The area covers northern Slovenia and southern Austria (Carinthia).
